Improvement Campaign

The Camp Ohio Facilities Improvement Campaign continues to provide funds for a wide variety of improvements to the cabin and bathroom facilities at Camp Ohio. More than $20,000 has been donated by county 4-H councils, individuals and businesses since the campaign started in January of 2005. A plan for spending the improvement funds was developed and approved by the Camp Ohio Board and projects have been completed as dollars become available.

We have had a number of projects completed since the last Camp Ohio Newsletter was published. The list of projects completed in the past six months include: 82 new windows installed in cabins 4, 17 & 18, new showerheads installed in both girls and boys restroom to help reduce water consumption and stretch the hot water supply, showerheads raised in the boys restroom, ramps into the upper level dorms in cabins 17 & 18 replaced, new toilet seats installed in girls restroom, old spring supports in metal bunks in girls cabins replaced with plywood bottoms, a wall built between the two bottom dorms in cabin 18, rusty vents replaced in girls bathroom, and several doors painted.

Projects that are in planning stages that will be completed this spring include: installation of trim on new windows in cabins 17 & 18, replacement of one exterior wall on cabin 13, upgrade of electrical services in cabins 4 and 11-16, new screens for windows in cabins 11-16, stain removed from windows on girls side, installation of two pressure assisted toilets in boys restroom, new clothesline installed on boys side, walls in boys bathroom and basement of cabins 17 & 18 stained to brighten the rooms, new curtain rods and curtains for all the cabins and the purchase of a number of new 4” foam mattresses to replace more of the existing worn mattresses.
